Arizona regulators on Tuesday approved the pending merger between Denver- based Qwest and Century Link, reducing to three the number of states that still need to sign off on the deal.
The Arizona Corporation Commission’s approval stipulates the combined company must invest at least $70 million in broadband infrastructure in Arizona over five years.
Eighteen states and Washington, D.C., have approved the deal, which still requires approval from Oregon, Washington, Minnesota and the Federal Communications Commission. Colorado regulators approved the merger in January.
The company will be based at CenturyLink’s headquarters in Monroe, La.
