Gov. John Hickenlooper will be in Bent County today to, among other things, tour a prison he proposed closing as part of his 2011-12 budget and to meet with residents upset by that choice.
The Fort Lyon Correctional Facility is Bent County’s second-largest employer.
Asked whether he asked to meet with Bent County officials or vice versa, Hickenlooper said, “both.”
The governor is scheduled to tour the prison this morning and will meet with community leaders at the Bent County Courthouse at noon.
