The Rapids and Altitude said the team’s games will return to the cable network this season, with the bulk scheduled to broadcast on Stan Kroenke’s high-definition channel.

Altitude, and it’s sister channel Alt2, said it will air 25 of the Rapids’ MLS games, with a rotating cast of play-by-play announcers.

Rapids games had shown on Altitude in previous seasons, before moving to Denver’s over-the-air KWGN-2 last year.

The play-by-play cast will rotate between Avalanche TV announcer Mike Haynes and radio voice Marc Moser, Nuggets TV guy Chris Marlowe and radio voice Jason Kosmicki, Altitude studio host Mark Bertagnolli, and Marc Stout, the network said.

Veteran soccer commentator Marcelo Balboa will again handle color duties. Balboa and Stout were the primary team last season.

Altitude will also re-play two games from ESPN, and all broadcasts will include a 30-minute pregame show.

The Rapids open their season March 19 in Commerce City against the expansion Portland Timbers. That game will air nationally on Fox Soccer Channel.

Colorado will first appear on Altitude the following week, a March 26 game in Los Angeles against Chivas USA.
