STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—A former Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. employee has been arrested on suspicion of sending the resort an e-mail implying there were explosives on a ski lift.
Routt County Sheriff Garrett Wiggins said Thursday that 25-year-old Patrick Steven Jackson of Tehachapi, Calif., allegedly confessed to sending the anonymous e-mail Jan. 15. Wiggins tells the Steamboat Pilot & Today that Jackson was intoxicated and upset about a girlfriend breaking up with him. Jail records didn’t indicate whether Jackson has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
Prosecutors have filed felony charges of menacing and making a false report of explosives, plus misdemeanor charges of computer crime, harassment and false reporting to authorities.
Jackson’s bail was set at $30,000.
