A 20-year-old man from Washington, D.C,. broke his neck and pelvis early this morning when he fell more than 34 feet from the second floor of an apartment building in Boulder, according to police.
Someone noticed the man lying on the ground in the courtyard of the apartment complex near the intersection of Marine Street and Broadway at 12:49 a.m., said Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel.
When officers arrived, they found the man unconscious but breathing and moaning in pain. They called paramedics, who transported him to Boulder Community Hospital to be treated for a broken neck and pelvis.
Kobel said the man apparently had been drinking at a party before his fall from the second story of the apartment building. A woman who lived in the apartment where people had gathered for a party that night told police that she went into her bedroom just before 1 a.m. and saw a man kneeling on the floor, according to Kobel.
The woman said the man suddenly “sprang to life” and ran out the only window in her room, Kobel said.
