PHOENIX — A medical examiner released autopsy reports Monday for the six people slain in the January shooting rampage that injured U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

The report said Christina-Taylor Green, 9, suffered one gunshot in the torso that struck her aorta and kidney. Three other victims — Dorwin Stoddard, Phyllis Schneck and Gabe Zimmerman — died from gunshot wounds to the head. Federal Judge John Roll, 63, was shot in the back. Dorothy Morris, in her 70s, was killed by a bullet that pierced her heart.

The reports were released Monday by the Pima County Medical Examiner’s office following a court dispute over whether the information should be made public.

Also Monday, prosecutors asked a judge to commit shooting suspect Jared Loughner to a federal facility where he can be evaluated by psychologists to determine whether he suffers from a mental defect that makes him incompetent to stand trial.

They cited a YouTube video, in which prosecutors believe a hooded Loughner burns an American flag, and a MySpace photo of the type of gun used in the Jan. 8 shooting to suggest that the 22-year-old has mental issues.
