Frontier is touting fares as low as $98 roundtrip between Denver and West Coast cities including Long Beach, Calif., Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., and $78 to Albuquerque, N.M. Those prices cover trips through June 9 but don't include taxes and fees, tickets must be bought at least 14 days before flying, and the cheapest seats are only available for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Frontier Airlines said passenger traffic in February increased 2 percent to 853 million revenue passenger miles.

Frontier also said it is trimming its operating schedule for the second quarter of 2011 because of uncertainties in oil prices. While the airline previously had expected to grow in the second quarter, its capacity is now expected to be flat compared to the same period last year.

Frontier Airlines, formerly based in Denver, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings Inc.
