Versus, one of the top cycling TV networks in the world, has reached an agreement to televise the Quiznos Pro Challenge race in Colorado this August, a source close to the situation said today.
The network’s lead cycling announcers are Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen. The pair have become the voices of the Tour de France with Liggett covering the Tour 38 straight times. They are also the announcers for the Tour of California, which was run by Quiznos co-chairman Shawn Hunter.
Before going to New York last month to finalize the TV deal, Hunter said, “This will be one of the strongest TV platforms in the history of U.S. cycling.”
The inaugural Quiznos Pro Challenge is scheduled to begin Aug. 22 with a prologue in Colorado Springs and end Aug. 28 in Denver.
