WALSENBURG, Colo.—The halls of justice are crumbling—literally—in a southern Colorado community.

The Huerfano (WEHR’-fah-noh) County Courthouse has been closed because large chunks of rock broke loose from the building’s tower late last week and fell. State officials are assessing the building and a report is due later this week.

Local court officials are looking for another location for court and probation services. People with court appearances or probation appointments this week don’t have to show up at the courthouse but must call 719-738-1040 Tuesday for more information.
