Sales of cars and trucks in Colorado rose 8.5 percent in January compared with the same month in 2010, according to the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association.
Meanwhile, used-car registrations were down 4.5 percent for the same period.
The January new-car report showed that 9,325 new vehicles were sold compared with 8,596 in January 2010.
