The 2012 U.S. Amateur Championship, set to be held at Cherry Hills Country Club in Englewood, has been moved up a week by the United States Golf Association.
The tournament, originally scheduled for Aug. 20-26, will now be held Aug. 13-19. Jeff Hall, USGA’s managing director of rules and competitions, said the move was made to accomodate students who would have faced a conflict with the start of school.
Going forward, the U.S. Amateur likely will end on the third Sunday in August each year, and the U.S. Women’s Amateur will likely end the Sunday prior, according to the USGA.
