COLORADO SPRINGS — Authorities say a body has been found in a Colorado Springs home that was destroyed by a fire, leaving another person who lived there unaccounted for.

Fire Department spokeswoman Sunny Smaldino told The Gazette that a body was found in one part of the rubble Wednesday and the remains of two dogs were found in a front bedroom.

Fire officials say a 74-year-old woman and her 51-year-old son lived in the home that exploded and burst into flames late Tuesday. Witnesses say the flames were visible a mile away.

The cause of the blast isn’t known.
