Denver’s hopes for a satellite office of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office were buoyed this week by the U.S. Senate passing a patent-reform bill.

U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet and Mark Udall, both D-Colo., are lobbying for Denver as a location for one of at least three new satellite offices stipulated in the bill to help address a backlog of patent applications.
