An urn holding the cremated remains of Terry Herrle — stolen in a Jan. 9 burglary, thought found but then stolen again — has been returned to the dead woman’s husband.

The urn was found in a box left outside of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Colorado Springs early this morning. The urn was returned to Bob Herrle by El Paso County deputies at about 8:30 a.m.

“We are grateful to our community for their attentiveness and compassion shown to the victim in this case,” deputies said in a news release.

The urn was stolen during a Jan. 9 burglary of Herrle’s Black Forest home.

Six days later, Colorado Springs police received a call about a bag left outside of the same church. When they arrived, they found the bag, which contained a note of apology, but the wooden box containing Terry Herrle’s ashes was not there.

El Paso County detectives then said they thought someone else had come upon the bag and removed the urn.

Three people have been arrested related to the burglary of Herrle’s home and others in the neighborhood: Damon Brimer, 34, Scott Farr, 29, and Farr’s brother Jeremy Farr, 23.

Nicole Y. Mobley, 24, was arrested and a warrant issued for Sergio Rivera, 31, related to the theft of the urn after it was left at the church the first time.

A neighbor whose home was burglarized and who is related to the Farrs put up a $1,500 reward for the return of the urn holding the cremains of Terry Herrle.
