GREELEY, Colo.—Senior guard Max Duncan scored 18 points to lead Springfield to a 65-50 win over Pawnee in the Class 1A semifinals Friday in Greeley.
The Greeley Tribune reports that Pawnee (21-3) struggled on both ends of the court, allowing Springfield (18-6) to take a 19-7 lead, converting on numerous extra opportunities and outshooting the Coyotes (8-of-21 to 3-of-10).
Pawnee quickly climbed back into the game, outscoring the Longhorns 18-7 in the second quarter to cut the deficit to just 26-25 entering halftime. But with sophomore point guard Brye Brunelle sidelined with foul trouble for most of the third quarter, Pawnee’s offense again struggled.
The Coyotes were outscored 39-25 in the second half, including 12-6 in a pivotal third quarter.
Pawnee senior Kormakur Arthursson had a team-high 17, and senior forward Brad Durst added 10 and a game-high 17 rebounds.
Springfield forward Michael Crane had 18 points and senior center Matt Self added 16.
