GREELEY, Colo.—Caliche won its third consecutive boys 1A state championship on Saturday, overwhelming Springfield 72-47.

Caliche senior Cody Paxton, at 6-foot-5, and junior Joel Edler, 6-foot-3, dominated on rebounds.

Springfield had a brief lead of 4-2 after Max Duncan hit two free-throws, but Caliche then went on a 16-0 tear to take an 18-4 lead.

Caliche led 38-16 at halftime.

It was Springfield’s first appearance in the title game in 19 years.
