DENVER—Authorities say a car veered off Interstate 76 in Adams County and crashed into a lot storing propane tanks, and some of the tanks caught fire.

The Colorado State Patrol says the driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after the crash at about 6:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Troopers identified him as 21-year-old Justin Kardas of Denver. He was the only occupant.

Westbound lanes of I-76 were been shut for about three hours and eastbound lanes for an hour.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
