BOULDER, Colo.—Xavier Talton scored 22 points, including 12 in the third quarter, as the Sterling Tigers won their first state basketball championship since 1984 with a 57-38 victory over the Windsor Wizards in the Class 4A title game Saturday.

No. 3 Sterling (26-2) led 20-17 at the break and never trailed in the game. Sterling pulled away in the second half, outscoring ninth-seeded Windsor 23-11 in the third quarter.

Derek Karg added 16 points for Sterling, which beat its Tri-Valley League foe for the second time this season.

Aaron Schmidt scored 13 points and Connor Ervin 11 for Windsor (23-5), which has not won a championship since taking consecutive titles in 1923-24.
