
There will be a bit of familiarity this week for the teams in Denver for the NCAA Tournament second- and third-round games at the Pepsi Center.
BYU (30-4) is the No. 3 seed in the Southeast Regional will play No. 14 Wofford (21-12) at 5:15 p.m. in the first game of the evening session. The Cougars have plenty of history along the Front Range as part of the Mountain West Conference with Air Force, Colorado State and Wyoming.
St. John’s is the sixth seed in the Southeast and will play No. 11 Gonzaga (24-9) right after the BYU-Wofford. St. John’s assistant Mike Dunlap was head coach at Metro State (1997-2006) and led the Roadrunners to two Division II championships (2000 and 2002).
The other matchups come out of the Southwest Regional. Louisville is the fourth seed in the Southwest and will play No. 13 Morehead State (24-9). That will be the first game Thursday, tipping off at 11:40 a.m. Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich was the athletic director at Colorado State in the 1990s.
No. 5 Vanderbilt (23-10) will play No. 12 Richmond (27-7) right after the Louisville-Morehead game. Richmond coach Chris Mooney left the Air Force Academy in May 2005 to take the Richmond job.
