A boy, thought to be either 12 or 13 years old, was hit by a 73-year-old driver in the crosswalk at South Federal Boulevard and West Evans Avenue this afternoon.
The driver, Jesse Rincon, drove off but was stopped by three other vehicles about two blocks away.
The boy’s name was not released. He is in serious but stable condition at Denver Health Medical Center, with a head and leg injuries. He is expected to survive, said Denver Police Lt. Matt Murray.
Public records show Rincon lives about seven blocks away.
He will be charged with felony hit and run, Murray said.
Court records show that in March 2009, Rincon pleaded guilty to driving illegally with a restricted license, in exchange for other traffic charges being dismissed by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. He paid a $500 fine.
