VANSANT, Va. — State police say a gunman fatally shot two sheriff’s deputies before being killed in a shootout along a rural southwestern Virginia road.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Steve Lowe said the deputies were shot at 2 p.m. Sunday after the owner of a salvage yard reported a confrontation with a man he suspected of trying to rob his business. He said two other deputies were injured and were in serious condition.
