AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.—A team of cadets from the Air Force Academy has won a preliminary round in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition and will participate in the national competition next month.

The national competition is in San Antonio on April 8-10.

In the preliminary round, teams competed remotely from their schools’ computer labs. Their assignment was to defend a computer network from others playing the role of attackers.

The academy team’s coach, Martin Carlisle, said this is the first year the school has competed.
