Next week’s World Figure Skating Championships in Tokyo have been postponed and may be canceled because of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan, the International Skating Union announced Monday.
Four Colorado Springs skaters were scheduled to compete: U.S. men’s champion Ryan Bradley, U.S. pairs champions Caitlin Yankowskas and John Coughlin and U.S. ladies runner-up Rachael Flatt.
Bradley, who won his first national title in his 11th try in January, wasn’t surprised or upset.
“It was something I was foreseeing,” he said. “With everything going on over there, it’s not responsible to be over there and have an ice-skating competition.”

Catalon plans to graduate early and enroll at CU in January so he can participate in 2012 spring practices.
