MONTROSE, Colo.—A 19-year-old man wanted for questioning in a double homicide in western Colorado has been found dead after a standoff with police.

The Montrose Daily Press reports that Ryan Peterson was found dead at a Montrose apartment complex Wednesday night. The coroner’s office says he apparently shot and killed himself.

Peterson was wanted for questioning in the deaths of 34-year-old Scott Clarke and 49-year-old Kama Sanburg. Authorities say the two were found shot to death in their Montrose County home Monday.

Police got an anonymous tip that Peterson was at an apartment complex Wednesday. They say they tried to coax him out and that he was dead when they found him. Police Cmdr. Gene Lillard says no officers shot at Peterson.

Court records show Peterson lived with Sanburg and Clarke.
