Northglenn police are unraveling a bizarre drive-by shooting into a home Saturday night after the homeowner followed the suspect until officers caught up.
Harvey Glenn Ewing, 53, of La Salle was arrested on Interstate 25 and booked into the Adams County Detention Facility on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and domestic violence.
A police spokesman wasn’t immediately available to explain possible charges Sunday afternoon.
In a news release, the Northglenn Police Department said the shooting happened at 9:18 p.m. at the home of Scott C. Cuthbertson, 11189 Park Vista Drive. No one was hit, but Cuthbertson said shots had been fired into his home five or six other times, according to the release.
Cuthbertson did not immediately return a phone call Sunday.
When he called police to report the shooting, he said he was going north on Interstate 25 following a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu that he thought held whoever fired multiple shots into his home. Police pulled over the vehicle and arrested Ewing.
“Officers were notified that the suspect may have thrown a weapon out of his vehicle in the area of 14400 block northbound Interstate 25,” the release stated. “Officers searched the area and found a small-caliber handgun.”
Court records on Ewing show a 2003 bankruptcy, a restraining order obtained by his ex-wife in Weld County in February 2009, and their divorce in 2007.
