An Evergreen family is just a hop and a “ribbet” away from winning $30,000 for The Children’s Hospital.
The Gumz family entered their “FrogP” dance video in the second annual Primrose Schools’ national Family Dance-off contest, according to a news release from Primrose Schools.
There are more than 200 Primrose Schools in 16 states.
The Gumz’s entry is one of the leading videos in the group of the 14 finalists. The competition aims to fight childhood obesity and benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals – an organization that raises money for 170 children’s hospitals across North America.
If the video takes the grand prize, $30,000 will be donated to The Children’s Hospital in Aurora and the Gumz family will win a $5,000 cash prize.
Viewers can vote for their favorite videos this week. The video with the most votes will be announced on Monday.
The Gumz family learned about the Dance-off from the Primrose School of Bear Creek in Lakewood, where their 4-year-old son, Aiden, is a student.
“We’re definitely not dancers, but we love to be active and have fun,” Rebekah Gumz said in a statement. “The Family Dance-off seemed like a great way to help others and have fun as a family.”
Gumz spent weeks hand-sewing green costumes and writing a song about “royal frogs” dancing in the forest.
Gumz said that her husband, Schannon Gumz, was unsure about dressing head-to-toe in green, but he was happy to help for a good cause.
The 30-second video captures the family cracking “ribbets,” dressed in green and hopping in the snow while Aiden sings.
Even the family dog, Sugar Bear, makes an appearance.
