BOULDER, Colo.—A man accused of killing a University of New Hampshire football player in Boulder has been charged with first-degree murder.
Twenty-two-year-old Kevin Michael McGregor of Longmont appeared in court Wednesday in Boulder. The Daily Camera reported he was also charged with criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
McGregor is accused of fatally shooting 20-year-old Todd Walker of Edwards, who was in Colorado for spring break.
Court documents say Walker and woman thought a man believed to be McGregor was joking when he showed a gun and demanded money. Police say Walker was shot in the chest when he intervened.
Tips from the public led police to McGregor, who is a manager at a sandwich shop.
