BELGRADE, Serbia — Russia is not opposed to Serbia’s plans to join the European Union, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Wednesday, pledging to boost relations with the Balkan country where Moscow seeks to retain strong political and economic influence.
“We will monitor the process of European integration closely together with our Serbian partners, so that the European integration does not hamper the progress in the relations between Serbia and Russia,” Putin said.
