A fire chief in the metro area has been placed on administrative leave.

Fairmount Fire Protection District Chief Don Angell was placed on paid leave Saturday pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation, the district announced today in a media release.

Craig Corbin, president of the board of directors for the district, declined to answer specific questions on the issue, describing it as a “personnel matter which I am not (at) liberty to discuss at this time.”

The Fairmount District is in unincorporated Jefferson County located between Golden, Arvada, and Wheat Ridge. It has 18 paid firefighters and 60 volunteers who respond to fires and emergency incidents from two fire stations.
