Yale University received a pledge of $50 million from John Malone, chairman of Douglas County-based Liberty Media Corp., to hire new professors at the engineering school.
Malone’s gift, the biggest in the history of Yale’s School of Engineering & Applied Science, will endow 10 new faculty positions, according to a statement on the website of the New Haven, Conn.-based university. Malone, who graduated from Yale College in 1963, also donated $24 million in 2000 for Yale’s Daniel L. Malone Engineering Center, named after his father.
