SWAT members have ended a standoff with a man who fled after a traffic stop tonight and barricaded himself in a north Denver home for about three hours.

The standoff ended peacefully, and the man is now in custody.

Det. John White, spokesman for Denver Police, said they believed there were weapons inside the home that the man could access, which is why SWAT members were called in.

Officers in District 2 made the traffic stop in the 5300 block of St. Paul Street in Denver at about 6:15 p.m.

A man and a woman were in the vehicle, but the man ran away and was soon located inside a home. The man was alone in the house in the 4900 block of St. Paul Street.

White said the man has been identified, though his name has not been released. The man is wanted for robbery in Alamosa.
