Colorado Eagles captain Riley Nelson has been named the Central Hockey League’s most valuable player.
He was named to the all-CHL team the past three seasons, but it is the first MVP award for Nelson, who is the Eagles’ all-time leading scorer.
He is the second consecutive Eagles player to win the CHL’s MVP honor and the third overall. Kevin Ulanski won the award last season, and Greg Pankewicz won in 2004-05.
Nelson finished the season fourth in league scoring and led all players in plus/minus with a career-high plus-40.
