FORT COLLINS — A 31-year-old woman could face 90 days in jail and 10 years of intense supervised probation after pleading guilty Monday to the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy in January.
Courtney Bowles — a former instructional coach at Mountain View High School in Loveland — will also have to register as a sex offender if her plea deal with prosecutors is accepted by Larimer County District Judge Stephen Howard in May.
Bowles agreed to plead guilty to child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, a Class 4 felony. In exchange, prosecutors dropped three counts against her including sexual assault on a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Loveland police said they found Bowles and the boy naked in a car Jan. 21 at North Lake Park. They found a bottle of vodka in the car, and the two admitted to having sex.
Bowles quit her job as instructional coach and student group supervisor at the Loveland high school. She has been free on a $50,000 bond but is prohibited from contact with anyone younger than 18, including her own small children.
Bowles is allowed telephone contact with her children with her husband listening in.
Howard ordered Bowles to undergo a presentence investigation as well as a psycho-sexual evaluation before the May 9 sentencing.
During the hearing Monday, Bowles said only that she understood the plea deal. Her attorney, Derek Samuelson, told Howard his client was on medication but that it didn’t prevent her from understanding what prosecutors were offering.
