A critical “red flag” fire warning is in effect until 7 p.m. today in the San Luis Valley, moving onto the southern Front Range and Eastern Plains Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

A red flag warning has been issued from noon until 8 p.m. tomorrow for parts of El Paso, Pueblo, Huerfano, Crowley, Otero, Las Animas and Baca counties.

Wind gusts of up to 30 mph are expected, with humidities as low at 10 percent, forecasters said.

The metro area will continue to be windy this evening, with gusts up to 23 mph tonight and 34 mph Thursday.

Denver’s high temperature Thursday is forecast at 66 degrees, possibly warming to 70 degrees Friday and 74 Saturday, according to the forecast.

There are slight chances of rain in the city Sunday night and Monday, forecasters said.

In northwest Colorado, a winter weather advisory is in effect through noon Thursday.

Another 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected in the Park and Flat Top mountains with winds up to 30 mph — and 45 mph at timberline — through Thursday morning, the National Weather Service warned this afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to warm into the 50s in Steamboat Springs Friday and Saturday.
