On the heels of last weekend’s runway shows highlighting local designers and boutiques, for this weekend’s Style Expo Friday and Saturday, more than 80 booths at the Denver Merchandise Mart will showcase local fashion, design and beauty along with runway shows, makeover stations and workshops. Reality television personalities Mondo Guerra (“Project Runway”), Charlie Price (“Shear Genius”) and Nina Flowers (“Ru Paul’s Drag Race”) will attend events. Highlights will include the Denver Style Awards that will be given to top local talents in clothing, jewelry, accessories, makeup, modeling and celebrity, presented Friday night; and a Denver Top 10 Fashion Show on Saturday night with a finale of designs by Guerra, above. Organizer Dana Cain says the expo’s emphasis will be on fun, with Gimme Gimme Pillow Toast’s “Extreme Japanese Street Fashion” and drag queen contests. Hours are 6-10 p.m. Friday and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10 per day, or $15 for both days ($1 of every ticket sold goes to Colorado AIDS Project).
