Thieves stealing items from parked cars have fired shots near vehicle owners who confronted them, and Denver police are warning residents to call for help rather than try to stop a theft alone.
Six times between March 22 and Tuesday, people who found a thief stealing from their car were chased off by the thieves, who fired weapons at the people or the cars, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.
In some of the incidents, the victim went to the vehicle after hearing a car alarm.
