William Ples Hunt was found guilty today of three counts of attempted first-degree murder, more than five years after he planned to blow up his ex-girlfriend’s house.
Hunt, now 54, was stopped by police in July 2005 after police checked on his ex-girlfriend. They found him in a U-Haul filled with 17 containers of gas and diesel fuel.
He was apparently going to blow up the house, where the ex-girlfriend, her daughter and roommate lived, authorities said.
Hunt was found guilty in November in Arapahoe County District Court of three counts of felony menacing, possession of an explosive/incendiary device, second-degree assault, and other charges.
But the jury was hung on the attempted first-degree murder charges and he was retried. On Monday, the jury found him guilty on those charges as well. Hunt is scheduled for sentencing May 13.
