LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers hired former Los Angeles police chief William Bratton to assess the team’s security policies in the wake of a Giants fan being severely beaten in the stadium’s parking lot after the season opener.

Bratton will help develop a security blueprint that extends to both Dodger Stadium and its parking lots.

Giants fan Bryan Stow, 42, remains hospitalized in a medically induced coma after being beaten by two men wearing Dodgers clothing March 31. A $100,000 reward is being offered for help in identifying the assailants.

Giants activate Wilson

SAN DIEGO — The Giants activated closer Brian Wilson (left side) and placed right-hander Santiago Casilla (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list.

Dunn has appendectomy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn underwent an emergency appendectomy Tuesday night and will miss at least five games.
