DALLAS—Tyson Chandler and Jason Kidd are sitting out the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Denver Nuggets.
Chandler is getting over a back injury sustained in the previous game. Kidd is being held out to make sure the 38-year-old point guard is as refreshed as possible going into the playoffs.
Coach Rick Carlisle said Chandler is “getting close to playing, but he’s not there yet.” He said he’s not sure yet whether Chandler will be available for the next game, on Friday night.
The Mavs are in line for the third seed in the Western Conference playoffs, with a chance to slip into fourth. Team owner Mark Cuban said having players rested is more important than securing the third seed.
Dallas went into this game having lost three in a row, and was 8-8 since an 18-1 stretch.
