DENVER—Authorities say a teen whose body was found near a Denver city park hadn’t been seen since January, when he slipped out a door at a high school wrestling match.
KMGH-TV in Denver reports 17-year-old Joshua Churchwell had been attending Ridge View Academy, a state-owned, privately operated juvenile correctional program in Arapahoe County.
Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said Wednesday that Churchwell and others on Ridge View’s wrestling team traveled to East High School in Denver for a match Jan. 7. He says Churchwell slipped out a door while warming up.
Two teens who found his body Monday have told Denver media outlets the body was in a suitcase.
Denver police say Churchwell had no obvious signs of injuries, and an initial autopsy hasn’t determined how he died.
