Delta County happenings.

The Delta County Tourism department offers a number of travel itineraries through the summer. The Feathers, Fur & Flora trip gives visitors the chance to view the wildflowers and wildlife of Delta County, with bird watching and trail walks. A hands-on art trip to galleries and glass and ceramics studios gives visitors a chance to create their own masterpieces. Also, a wine tour offers cheese, bread-making and winery tours. Finish off the weekend with a wine-making class.

Celebrate a Winter Park Easter.

On April 23, visit Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park at 11 a.m. for a free event for kids of all ages. An egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny and other fun activities will be offered. Children ages 10 and younger can join the Easter Bunny for an on-mountain candy hunt and a race.

Fruita bike festival.

The Fruita Fat Tire Festival, scheduled April 28-May 1, offers mountain and desert rides, a bike expo at Civic Center Park, a beer garden and more. In addition, road rides through Colorado National Monument, over Douglas Pass and through wine country will be offered. or 970-858-7220

Grand Junction rolls out the wine barrels.

The “Barrel Into Spring” wine-tasting event in Grand Junction takes place April 30-May 1. Highlights include winery and vineyard tours, gourmet meals, tasting of wines that are not readily available to the general public, and of course barrel sampling of wines paired with specialty foods.
