Two bodies were found inside a Wheat Ridge home Thursday afternoon after SWAT officers surrounded the home for more than six hours, trying to contact a gunman they believed to be inside.
The man and woman whose bodies were discovered inside the home in the 4400 block of Harlan Court have not been named.
Wheat Ridge Police Department spokeswoman Lisa Stigall had said earlier Thursday that investigators thought a couple involved in the incident might be boyfriend and girlfriend, but Thursday evening she said “their relationship is still undetermined at this point.”
The man in the house reportedly fired at another man.
No one outside the home was hit by gunfire.
Also, no more shots were heard after employees at a nearby U.S. Bank branch reported gunfire before 9:30 a.m.
Police evacuated the bank and nearby homes, and no one was allowed in or out of three nearby schools — Everett and Wheat Ridge middle schools and Stevens Elementary — during the standoff.
Police reopened Harlan Street between West 44th and West 46th avenues just before 5 p.m.
