The Colorado Mammoth needs one victory in its last two games to qualify for the National Lacrosse League playoffs after defeating the Edmonton Rush 13-6 in Ed-monton, Alberta, on Saturday night.
Colorado’s Brian Langtry finished with four goals and two assists. John Grant Jr. added a hat trick and two helpers for the Mammoth (4-10), which holds the tiebreaker over Edmonton (4-11) with the win.
Langtry put the Mammoth on the scoreboard first. Colorado led 5-2 after the first quarter and 7-4 at halftime. Langtry scored twice in the third quarter as the Mammoth built an 11-6 lead. Colorado’s defense and goalkeeper Chris Levis were outstanding in the final quarter, when the Mammoth scored twice while blanking the Rush.
Levis stopped 38-of-44 shots overall. Colorado outshot Edmonton 47-44. The Mammoth hosts Calgary on Friday and plays at Minnesota in the regular-season finale April 23.
