BOULDER, Colo.—Colorado senior Brittany Spears has been selected by the Phoenix in the second round of the WNBA Draft.
Spears, chosen Monday, is the Buffaloes’ all-time leading scorer with 2,185 points, the seventh-highest on the Big 12 Conference’s all-time list. School officials say she’s the fourth player in team history to be drafted by the WNBA.
The 6-foot-1 guard/forward is from Pasadena, Calif. Spears started all 127 games of her career, a school record. She’s the Buffs’ all-team leader in field goal attempts (1,889) and double-figure games (111).
Spears averaged 19.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game her senior year, leading Colorado to the WNIT quarterfinals.
