Are floor-length gowns passe?

In some circles, maybe. But with proms, graduation parties and a host of summer debutante balls, the members of Les Demoiselles have plenty of occasions to wear them. And some very pretty ones graced a Glenmoor Country Club runway when this cultural arts-appreciation branch of the Denver Ballet Guild hosted a Sunday brunch that saluted the members who are high-school seniors and will be leaving Les Demoiselles after graduation.

Eight of the 12th-graders — Victoria Bealer, Katie Binder, Brittany Hethcock, Katrina Scott, Lily Talesnick, Genevieve Tarlton, Olivia Taylor and Sarah Wilkins — agreed to model casual and formal selections from Dillard’s in the show. They were escorted by members of the University of Denver men’s swimming and diving team: Jeff Giddens, Andy Lee, Seth McNew, Mark Maguire, Caleb Severns, Chase Torgerson and Cole Worsley.Gail Fritzinger and Colleen Rabb chaired the event that also paid tribute to Project C.U.R.E. Twenty members of Les Demoiselles volunteer with the Englewood-based organization that collects medical supplies and ships them to impoverished nations around the world.

The 185 guests included Pam Camp and Lori Manzer, who coordinate the Les Demoiselles involvement with Project C.U.R.E.; Kay Savci and Gayle Talesnick, who head Les Demoiselles; Beth Murphy, who will head the group in 2011-12; special events chair Linda Bowen Scott; Jamie Angelich, chair of the 2011 Le Bal de Ballet; Elise Ford with daughters Rhodes and Haslam; Karen Lee with daughters Kelsey and Kara; and Michelle Hanley and her daughter, Rachel, a freshman at St. Mary’s Academy.
