A man who fatally shot a woman before killing himself was identified Monday as a parolee who served time for attempted murder.
David Atencio, 52, fatally shot Anna Villalobos, 45, on Thursday in a Wheat Ridge house before going inside the crawl space of the same home and shooting himself, according to Wheat Ridge police.
“Atencio had been released from prison in April of 2008 after being sentenced in 1990 for attempted murder out of Jefferson County,” police said in a news release. Atencio had lived with the woman for about a year. He was on “intensely supervised house arrest,” police said.
