PUEBLO, Colo.—Authorities are investigating the death of an 8-year-old Pueblo County girl and the wounding of her father.
The sheriff’s office says a man called the police Sunday night after finding his granddaughter, Desirea French, and his son, 32-year-old John French Jr. in his mobile home. Investigators say it’s believed a firearm was used to wound French in the head.
French was taken to Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. His condition wasn’t immediately available.
Authorities haven’t released the cause of the girl’s death. An autopsy is planned Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office says there’s no indication anyone else was in the mobile home for most of the day Sunday.
