Marcellus Roberts, the former Central Parking manager who sued the company on allegations of racial discrimination, has settled his federal lawsuit.

The terms of the settlement are confidential, said attorney Jessica Collier, who represented Roberts in the case.

Roberts, a 27-year employee of the company, sued because he claimed managers referred to him as “boy” and directed racial slurs at him because he is African-American.

He also claimed managers excluded him from training, lunches and golf tournaments and when he complained, he was ignored and eventually fired.

Despite his spotless record, Roberts claimed he was fired after he was accused of stealing $30 from a parking-lot money box, an allegation he denied.

On Tuesday, Donald Holmes, senior vice president of human resources for Central Parking, said the case was settled amicably and the company admitted no liability.

In his lawsuit, Roberts contended he was accused of being a thief by his employers after he complained about the discrimination he was suffering from his fellow employees and managers.

No criminal complaint was ever filed against Roberts by Central Parking.

The settlement was reached in February, just a month before the case was to be tried in U.S. District Court in Denver.
