AAA Colorado will support Earth Day 2011 with the Great Battery Round-Up to collect used car batteries for recycling. On April 22 and April 23, consumers may bring used batteries to three metro-area locations: Grease Monkey, 7181 Pecos St.; Grease Monkey, 395 Wadsworth Blvd.; and Pacesetter Roadside Assistance, 3950 S. Kalamath St. in Englewood.

Third St. Chai and Canyon Bakehouse received loans from Whole Foods Market as part of its Local Producer Loan Program. Third St. Chai, a Boulder-based microbrewed-tea company, received a $100,000 loan to automate its filling line. Canyon Bakehouse, a Loveland-based producer of whole-grain, gluten-free breads, received a $25,000 loan to buy new product-line equipment.
Mountain Shades Inc., a Denver-based sport-sunglass manufacturer, announced a three-year licensing agreement with New Balance. Mountain Shades will develop a new line of running-specific sunglasses, New Balance Sun, in the U.S. market through 2013.
Mental Health Center of Denver has been recognized by the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare as the winner of the 2011 Awards of Excellence in Service Innovation for its program to treat individuals with mental illness and substance-abuse disorders who are involved in the criminal-justice system.
Energy Outreach Colorado, a statewide nonprofit that supports low-income-energy-assistance and affordable-housing-efficiency programs, received the top rating from Charity Navigator, an independent charity evaluator.
