The craft of auctioneering is being honored in Colorado by a proclamation from Governor John Hickenlooper declaring next Saturday National Auctioneer’s Day.

The Colorado Auctioneers Association Board of Directors and CAA members will meet at the State Capitol on Friday where State Rep. Jerry Sonnenberg (R-Sterling) will host a celebration of National Auctioneers Day on the house floor.

Colorado auctioneers will celebrate National Auctioneer’s Day by offering their skills to area charities as a way of giving back to the communities they serve.

The governor’s office noted that the “time-honored profession of auctioneering” is continuing to grow every year in areas that include estate, car, art and jewelry auctions, car, and farm and equipment auctions.

“Bidders enjoy the thrill of competition and the sense of the deal,” said the governor’s office. “Sellers appreciate the opportunity to accelerate the sale of their property to qualified bidders with cash in hand.”
